Explore Presidio National Park

The Presidio National Park in San Francisco is a beautiful place to visit; with so many activities to choose from you might end up coming back for another visit.

The Presidio National Park covers over 14,000 acres and includes beaches and forests as well as historical tours. The Presidio National Park is a part of the Golden Gate National Recreational area and is a favorite of locals and visitors to the city of San Francisco. The forest is huge and has cypress trees which are over 125 years old. This area was first the site of a Spanish fort in 1776 and continued to be a military site until 1994. There are many historical points of interest throughout the park.

Hiking is a popular activity here and within this park, there are over 11 miles of trails through a variety of areas. Many scenic biking trails lead through the Presidio area. There are 14 miles of paved biking trails which make a large loop around the entire park area. If you would like to take, a less tiring route there is a shuttle service which is free.

The Presidio offers visitors a range of activities within the area. Watersports are a popular to pass the time here and surfers and sail boarding is just some of the diverse ways to enjoy the Presidio’s beaches and surrounds. Enjoy a game of golf at the scenic Presidio Army Golf Course. The course is over a hundred years old and originally functioned as a private military course. Eucalyptus and pine line this beautiful 18 hole golf course. At the end of a game, you can relax and enjoy a meal at the new clubhouse restaurant.
