Explore The Asian Art Museum

The Asian Art Museum in San Francisco is home to over 16,000 works of Asian art and artifacts. The Asian Art museum has long been a major attraction in San Francisco.

The oldest pieces in the Asian Art Museum date back over 6,000 years ago! This is an impressive museum with many breathtaking pieces. The second and third floors of the museum showcase the museums permanent collection which includes impressive pieces from China, Japan, Korea and Asia. Many of these pieces are so rare and valuable that they are studied in journals and textbooks. The museum has started to buy 21st Century Asian art and showcases these in rotating displays. See the website for details of current exhibitions and highlights.

The museum also has live performances and includes dancing, theatre and music performances. Some shows are free with your museum admission price so be sure to check beforehand which performances are happening when!

The Asian Art museum also has a Japanese Tearoom which hosts “Tea Programs” to teach the Japanese way of tea. Learn how to whisk your own green tea the Japanese way. It is interesting and inexpensive (only a few dollars). The Asian Art Museum caters to children too and there are plenty of activities available inside the museum. Children can watch a video or play, or get stuck into an original artwork of their own. Children under12 are free too. Adults can take an audio tour through the museum and learn plenty about the Asian history and culture.

Come and visit the Asian Art Museum!
