Have Dinner At The Cliff House

The Cliff House is one San Francisco’s many landmarks. But the Cliff House is not your average San Francisco landmark. It is a historical site with restaurants, from here the view of the Pacific Ocean is simply unbeatable.

The Cliff House has had many forms throughout the ages. Over a century ago, the first Cliff house was built of timber. In 1896, Sutro splurged on an extravagant French Chateau style Cliff House which cost him a whopping $50,000. After this magnificent site was destroyed by fire, his daughter tried to rebuild it.

Another interesting feature is the Camera Obscura. This is a remnant from the Musee Mechanique and has become an interesting addition to the landscape here. Go and take a look at this curious contraption.

Today’s Cliff house building houses:

  • The Bistro offers a more casual setting for light breakfasts, lunches or early dinners. Enjoy a snack while you enjoy this gorgeous view.
  • The Zinc bar offers a full bar from 10 am until midnight.
  • Sutro’s is a fine dining restaurant with the most gorgeous views! Sutro’s has a variety of set menu’s which offers guests many more choices than usual set menu’s. Choose between Porcini Dusted Salmon in a Pinot Noir Sauce or the Plum Glazed Petaluma Duckling, or a grilled Filet mignon with shallot crust. The meals all come with San Francisco’s Sourdough Bread. It is widely regarded to be one of the most romantic restaurants in San Francisco.
  • The Terrace room provides a stunning area for Weddings and functions. What could be more beautiful than a wedding reception overlooking the ocean and Sutro ruins below?
  • Have a look at the menu online at the official Cliff house website. Come and visit this scenic and historical area for a beautiful San Franciscan experience.
