Visit Fisherman’s Wharf

Enjoy the freshest seafood, get up early and watch fisherman going about their daily business at one of San Francisco’s top tourist destinations.

Strolling through the entire Fisherman’s Wharf takes only half an hour. Many criticize Fisherman’s wharf as being overpriced and call it a tourist trap – but strolling through Fisherman’s Wharf is a must if you are in San Francisco as this vibrant area has an unbeatable view and a wonderful energy.

The resident Californian seals are the most popular attraction here. Ironic because the entire Wharf area has been designed with tourists in mind, and the Seals were originally considered a nuisance. Nowadays, children and adults just love watching the lazy Californian Sea Lions lazing in the sunshine and playing in the water.

Fisherman’s wharf is famous for its fresh seafood – particularly the clam chowder which is cheap and very tasty! There are also many Italian restaurants, which are worth a visit. The seafood here is fresh so be sure to try some!

The maritime museum is another popular destination at Fisherman’s wharf. The Cannery is home to many shops and restaurants and was originally a peach cannery (the largest cannery in the world). You could also visit the wax museum, Ripley’s believe it or not museum, the Guinness Book of Records Museum or the Medieval Dungeon which displays recreations of torture devices. The Musee Mecanique and Ghirardelli Square are also worth a look.

Street performance is also popular here and there are many different kinds of talent on display here; from clowns to fire eaters. The world famous bushman loves to scare unsuspecting tourists, so watch your back! Fisherman’s wharf is a great place to buy souvenirs – with many San Francisco t-shirts, snow globes and key rings for sale at various points along the Fisherman’s Wharf.

Take a stroll through Fisherman’s wharf; it is good family fun with plenty to do for all ages!!
