This lovely family lodge is situated in the neighborhood of Rockridge and Elmwood in Berkeley, San Francisco. This northern Californian city is located on the east shore and the city limits coincide with the county line which follows the ridgeline of the Berkeley Hills. The first people of European ancestry arrived in 1776. The area was the territory of the Chochen/Huichin band of the Ohlone people prior to the arrival of the settlers.
Accommodation at Elmwood Lodge consists of: Tucked away in the heart of Elmwood and bordering on adjacent neighborhoods this accommodation reveals a unique architectural gem built in 1909 restored to its originality as a Craftsman home with redwood detailing throughout. The home, completely private and set in a tranquil garden is near most attractions such as the Napa Valley, San Francisco and the pacific ocean.
Inviting guests into the front door is a lovely foyer and a cozy but elegant atmosphere posing interiors tastefully chosen and luxury furnishings still maintaining a home-away-from-home feel. With a large gourmet kitchen and stainless steel appliances the area is completely equipped to prepare quality meals for the whole family. There is I wood burning stove; dishwasher, microwave and all cooking utensils are supplied. Laundry facilities include a washer and dryer.
The rooms are large, quaint and comfortable with bedding and a king, queen and double bed in the 3 room on the second floor. There is also an extra futon - double in size. There are also three bath rooms. The whole house is approximately 2,500 square feet and boasts with a sunroom, a den off the master room and a laundry on the second floor. Curved French doors that lead to the back deck and garden. The living room has access t to a Cable TV, DVD and VCR as well as a stereo system.
There is plenty to do in the area such as golf, tennis, kayaking, sailing, boating, skiing, swimming, hiking, rock climbing and fishing just to mention a few. Guests can also go and visit the local zoo, museum, cinema, live theatre or go for an early morning workout at the fitness center or a luxurious pamper at the Spa.
