Castro Valley
Castro Valley is situated in Alameda County, California, approximately 27 miles southeast of San Francisco. The community is served by Interstates 580 and 880, and the Bay Area Rapid Transit system which has a station in Castro Valley.
Castro Valley is one of the largest unincorporated towns in California which means that they do not have a recognized government system. Located in the heart of the greater Bay area of California, Castro Valley nestles in a peaceful and quiet valley surrounded by rolling hills and trees. Although located in a rural environment, Castro Valley enjoys a rich economical, cultural and recreational lifestyle. This friendly close knit community has a multitude of museums, art galleries, shopping centers, an excellent variety of restaurants and bars, and entertainment venues.
The community enjoys extensive natural amenities such as parks, swimming lagoon and a 315 acre lake. There is also a beautiful 18 holed golf course located nearby. At Castro Valley Community Center, an all purpose park, visitors can participate in a multitude of activities and facilities which include tennis and basketball courts, picnic and barbecue area, softball field and a snack bar. Lake Chabot has a stunning fishing lake and marina, and miles of beautiful hiking and biking trails through grassland and eucalyptus groves along the edges of the lake to explore. Castro Valley is ideally situated to access attractions offered in the San Francisco Bay area which is located within a 30 minute drive.
Castro Valley has grown from its earlier existence as chicken growers, to an enterprising community which offer the visitor outstanding amenities, activities and attractions and natural beautiful surroundings, which all make for a superb vacation spot for the whole family.
