Higgins Canyon Hideaway

Only five minutes from the ocean this perfect getaway is nestled in the canyon outside the coast-side town of Half Moon Bay, California. The peaceful canyon retreat is 2.5 miles from the ocean and approximately a half hours drive from central San Francisco. It is a spacious and beautifully renovated old schoolhouse with a history of 100 years behind it. Very welcoming with superb panoramic views the refined blend of furnishings and country elegance is created the impression of an ideal home away from home.

The house has central heating for colder seasons, linen is provided to guests and most facilities such as an alarm clock, bottled water, local maps, are at hand. A lovely Victorian Style Bedroom awaits guests with an en-suite bathroom which consists of a claw foot tub and a shower with a view of the canyon. More bathrooms are found on both the upstairs and downstairs level. There is an optional service of a housekeeper.

A lovely fireplace, cable TV and comfortable seating for up to six people are located in the living room and adjacent to the dining room also ideal for six dinner guests. The Gourmet kitchen is fully equipped with custom-made cabinets, a dishwasher, washing machine, freezer/fridge, a Viking Stove and many quality stainless steel appliances. With wall-to-wall windows the rooms seem larger and it allows guests to enjoy nature in the comfort of their hideaway. A large den or office is located in the accommodation with access to wireless internet. Outdoor dining facilities with an outdoor grill gas are situated next to the porch/lanai. Three bicycles, a swing, are available for use as well as a hot tub for relaxing under the sunny Californian sky.

There is wheelchair accessibility and long term rentals are welcome. The neighboring activities include swimming, horseback riding, golf, sailing, wind surfing, fishing, roller blading and tennis. Services such as medical facilities, massage therapist and babysitting services are conveniently located in close proximity. Restaurants and other amenities are available close as well. Excursions and tours can be organized on local winery routes and scenic drives.
