Hayward
Hayward, named after its founder, William Hayward, is situated 25 miles southeast of San Francisco, in Alameda County, and is known as the “Heart of the Bay”, as the community is located central and convenient to cities and towns in the area.
Although Hayward has a mixture of many races and cultures, the people live and work harmoniously together to develop, improve, and maintain the community. The community boasts a City Hall, two universities, library, hospital, schools, and many small businesses, as well as art museums and galleries. The community has a large shopping center, Southland Mall, which houses well known department stores such as Macy’s, and other retailers. An underground food court located at the mall offers visitors a huge variety of restaurants and food outlets.
The community has deep historical roots and resources, and boasts a variety of recreational and cultural attractions. Hayward Area Historical Society has educational programs and exhibitions to promote and preserve historic sites and artifacts of the diverse heritage of the community. There are stunning parks in the area which offer visitors a variety of activities, such as biking and hiking.
Hayward is home to many sporting activities such as major baseball and soccer leagues, and there are fantastic golf courses in the area.
Hayward has stunning panoramic views over the Bay which is best viewed from Hayward Hills near the university. Hayward offer visitors a central base from where to explore all attractions and activities, and are an interesting city shaped by diversity, but bonded by unity.
