Nicasio is situated in Marin County, California, and its central location provides quick access to bigger urban cities. Point Reyes Station is 20 minutes from the community, and San Francisco can be reached within 45 minutes.
The charming town of Nicasio is home to breathtaking forested landscapes within a valley surrounded by rolling hills, complimented by organic food and wine. Along the narrow valley and creeks, many trees, oak, bay, redwood and fir, are found which attract an abundance of wild life. Although most of the land is used for farming cattle and organic produce, several vineyards have recently been established.
Nicasio has remained an agricultural rural community. In the town center there is a post office, general grocery store, a small real estate office, a baseball field and a St. Mary’s Church. Rancho Nicasio is a quaint bar and restaurant that has a fantastic atmosphere, serves great country meals like steaks and burgers, and feature well known bands that performs swing, bluegrass and rock music. The only non-agricultural business within Nicasio is George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch that belongs to Lucasfilm Ltd.
Nicasio is a paradise for hikers, bikers, and equestrians. Nicasio Reservoir has numerous short trails, as well as fishing areas. A few miles south of Nicasio are Roy’s Redwoods that features numerous trails in a picture perfect forest. It comes as no surprise that this is where George Lucas filmed scenes for the movie Return of the Jedi. Nicasio Valley Farms Pumpkin Patch hosts an annual Harvest Day Festival, and is a wonderful fun event for the entire family to enjoy.
