Olema
Olema is situated in Marin County California, in the San Francisco Bay Area, north of San Francisco.
Olema is located within the lush coastal valley of the Point Reyes National Seashore. It was geographically the exact location of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. The town, which income was generated from transporting timber, was once a bustling hive of activity with raunchy saloons and rowdy bars, but since the Point Reyes Station railroad was built, the town has become very quiet. The warm and friendly community features quaint bed and breakfasts, a camp site, small shops and restaurants, and a historic inn. The charming Olema Druids Hall is a gorgeous little hotel set within spectacular surroundings and has a wonderful ambiance. The town has a countryside atmosphere with home style cooking and is extremely welcoming.
The Bear Valley Visitor Center is the hub of the community, and is a good starting point to explore the impressive coastline, beaches and extensive hiking trails. There is plenty of opportunity for fishing, mountain biking, kayaking, and exploring the astounding environment. There are beautiful parks surrounding Olema with approximately 1000,000 acres of open space. Olema Ranch Campground, surrounded by woodland, is situated centrally to explore attractions such as Point Reyes Seashore, and Samuel P. Taylor Park. Further attractions include Mount Tamalpais which has over 200 miles of scenic paths for hiking and biking, and is an extremely gorgeous park with bubbling streams, gleaming lakes, and meadows which is covered in wild flowers in spring.
Olema is a lovely hospitable community within spectacular countryside surroundings, offer numerous activities and attractions, and is a wonderful retreat to linger and refresh the body, spirit, and mind.
