Pescadero
Pescadero is in San Mateo County California, in the San Francisco Bay Area, and 45 minutes north of San Francisco.
An unincorporated community, Pescadero is located in a quiet and historic agricultural valley near the San Francisco shores. The small town surrounded by rolling hills, historically fishing and farming community, has become a popular retreat for tourists visiting its beautiful beaches and splendid parks. Downtown Pescadero feature famous businesses such as Duarte’s Tavern and Norm’s Bakery. The town being over 150 years old gives scope for an interesting historic walking tour. There are also charming local gift shops, and a Mexican restaurant. Pescadero Art and Fun Fair is a wonderful event for the whole community to celebrate, and to enjoy the superb outdoor weather.
Pescadero has beautiful surroundings with amazing state parks, and visitors can enjoy hiking, biking, fishing, and bird watching. Butona Park offer hiking in the Santa Cruz Mountains within secluded redwood canyons, as well as bike and horse riding trails. Naturalists can explore the wonderful sanctuary of Pescadero Marsh, a feeding and nesting habitat of over 150 species of birds, and is also a refuge for raccoons, deer, foxes, and skunks. Pescadero State Beach, a stunning mile long shoreline, has rocky cliffs, tide pools, sheltered coves, and offer picnic and fishing facilities. A popular attraction to visit is the Pigeon Point Lighthouse, perched on a cliff, where gray whales frequent the area during the migration seasons of January and April.
